Dear Colleagues

I am delighted to invite you to the 2nd joint conference of the International Bar Association and the Israel Bar Association titled "The Globalization of Knowledge Based Industries". The conference will be held in Tel-Aviv, Israel, on February 9-11, 2011.

Globalization is not a new process but rather one that keeps on accelerating and uniting businesses around the globe. The current global economy is rapidly transitioning into knowledge based economy requiring new views and approaches by decision makers, senior executives, legal advisors and knowledge workers alike.

Israel is a fine location for this kind of conference being a country with a ratio of national expenditure on civilian R&D and gross domestic product (GDP) of 4.9%, placing Israel in the first place in the world, followed by Sweden (3.8%), Finland (3.7%), South Korea (3.5%) and Japan (3.4%). More developed countries in the OECD index ranges from 1% to 3%.

On top of the interesting topics, the networking opportunities with colleagues and regulators from around the globe, social and cultural events,Tel Aviv is of the liveliest cities in the world today and offers a very rich culture scene,a unique gastronomical landscape, architecture and historical assets, mild weather and easy going spirit.

I encourage you to make plans to attend this important conference and I look forward to welcoming you to Tel-Aviv.
